Morocco Head Coach Walid Regragui has named his 26-man squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of the Nations tournament.
The squad notably includes Achraf Hakimi who is currently battling with an ankle injury sustained in PSG’s Champions League game against Bayern Munich last month.
Regragui and his technical team remain hopeful that the reigning African Player of the Year will recover in time as Morocco aim for AFCON glory on home soil.
Hakim Ziyech who recently joined Wydad Casablanca and Soufiane Boufal are the most notable exclusion.
Lille’s Hamza Igamane has been named among the reserves after suffering an injury in the game against Marseille last weekend.
The Atlas Lions will look up to Yassine Bounou, Romain Saiss, Sofyan Amrabat, Azzedine Ounahi and Brahimi Diaz for inspiration.
Morocco who last won the AFCON in 1976, are pitted in Group A of the tournament alongside Comoros, Mali and Zambia.
